Gifting mothers is hard as hell. Especially if you have the types of mothers who would, if they were in the same house, eye each other every holiday and compare store bought cards to see whose was better, more expensive, or more heartfelt.
I had three criteria for a gift for the mothers (my mother, future mother in-law, and future grandmother in-law) at the wedding.
Show no favorites. They couldn’t outshine one another. Be occasion-appropriate. They had to be gifts I wouldn’t give them otherwise at any other event or holiday. Relatively affordable. One mom loves lavish presents, the other thinks they’re wasteful.
Looking for MOB gifts, I loved the idea of these BHLDN hankies, but wanted something…more personal? A little less mass-market. I’m an earnest gift giver, delighting in finding that perfect, perfect little something. When it dawned on me that lace hankies were a simple DIY and that I had the perfect lace (from my veil, no less!), I knew what I had to do.
How they turned out:

Step 1: Finish the raw edges of your fabric squares: tuck away the raw edge by folding twice ¼ inch along the edge. Stitch over the folded edge to make a narrow hem.
Step 2: Put away any loose netting and trim shapes to give your lace or lace scraps a more organic look. Arrange on a single corner, pin,澳门太阳城网址多少 教你几招琥珀简单太阳城合作自测方法, and then stitch along the edge of the lace as applique.
Step 3: Draw with a very light marker the outlines of the lettering you want to use for the embroidery. Screw on the embroidery hoop, making the fabric taut,太阳城sunbet, and then satin stitch the lettering. Personally, I don’t think this part necessarily has to be perfect—a little wonkiness shows that they were handmade with love.
